Relax and Rebalance: Mindfulness Meditation
-
Each 1.5 hour session at the Pavilion will include 3-4 guided meditations, covering a wide variety of types and techniques such as mantra, visualisations, mindfulness, breath meditations, and those that cultivate compassion, empathy and gratitude.
You don’t need any previous experience to attend, and you can book to come every week (subject to availability) or simply book as and when it suits you. You’ll learn some of the science and history behind meditation, linking this to the benefits it can offer, as well as ideas and guidance for embedding meditation into your daily routine.
The sessions will close with an informal chat and the opportunity to ask questions or feedback your own experiences of the meditations, but there will never be any expectation for you to share or join in discussions – you can purely embrace the calm and the time you’re taking for yourself in the sessions.

The Pavilion Theatre, Gorleston, NR31 6PP.
The classes take place in the lovely spacious studio upstairs, where there will be standard seats provided for you to use. However, if you think you would prefer to sit cross legged or laying down on the floor, you can bring your own yoga mat and/or cushion.
The key is for you to be comfortable while you’re meditating, so make sure you wear comfortable clothes, bring a bottle of water, and an extra layer in case you want to feel extra cosy.
There are lots of places to park and bus stops close by. There are accessible toilets downstairs. Due to the Pavilion only having stairs to access the upstairs studio, unfortunately the class is not fully accessible for those needing a lift or ramp to access floors above ground level.

This class is open to ages 18 and up.

Start your week with calm...learn meditation and mindfulness to bring some relaxation to your Monday and the week ahead.
Did you know there are significant potential benefits for your mind and body when you meditate and practice mindfulness? There is now a huge body of scientific evidence and research studies that show how meditation can positively impact our health and wellbeing, such as reducing stress and blood pressure, improving sleep & mood, and regulating our nervous system & emotions.
Meditation isn’t about turning off our brains; it’s about taking some time to observe our minds and bodies as they are, learning techniques and tools for letting go of worries and anxieties, and embracing the present moment. The NHS now recognises and recommends mindfulness as a complimentary therapy, and this is a type of meditation that can be easily integrated into your daily life.
Meditation can have many benefits including:
Reduced stress & anxiety
Reduced blood pressure & cholesterol
Improved sleep & emotional regulation
Helping support & regulate the nervous system
Improved focus & creativity
Cultivating a positive outlook & feeling of connection
Bringing a sense or calm, space & clarity
“I’m thrilled to become part of the Pavilion Theatre’s Wellbeing Hub. I live in Gorleston and have loved attending theatre productions at the Pavilion since I was young so it is a special for me to become involved in this new initiative - a place where the local community can come together and experience a range of activities and classes focused on supporting wellbeing. Meditation has been part of my life for a long time but this year I qualified as a Meditation Teacher with the British School of Meditation. Being a member of the school, I have access to a huge range of resources, knowledge and expertise I can include in my teaching. My classes are suitable for absolute beginners onwards, and are all about relaxation and learning techniques to reduce stress and anxiety in our daily lives… why not come and try it for yourself.”
