Venue: Riverside Pilates & Wellness, Riverside Road, Gorleston, NR31 6PX.

This 4 week block is specifically designed to guide you through a variety of types and techniques of meditation that can be effective in supporting you through menopause, peri-menopause and post menopause. You’ll learn some key science behind how meditation can counteract and bring balance to the symptoms you’re experiencing. There will be a variety of tools for integrating meditation and mindfulness into your life, to help navigate menopause.

Meditation can:

  • Significantly reduce ‘stress’ hormones, reduce anxiety & negative ‘mind chatter’

  • Increase ‘happy’ hormones, produce calmer brainwaves & reduce inflammation

  • Improve sleep, memory, focus & concentration, & increase melatonin levels

  • Aid digestion, mood regulation, increase pain tolerance & release tension

It would be beneficial if you had been to a taster session or class with me before booking this 4 week block, however it is not essential and the content will be suitable for complete beginners upwards. Small class sizes with a maximum of 10 people. See drop down below for dates this block of classes is running. The class before finishes at 7pm so please aim to arrive around 7:10pm so we can start at 7:15pm.

There are significant potential benefits for your mind and body when you meditate and practice mindfulness? There is now a huge body of scientific evidence and research studies that show how meditation can positively impact our health and wellbeing. The NHS now recognises and recommends mindfulness as a complimentary therapy, and this is a type of meditation that can be easily integrated into your daily life.

Meditation isn’t about turning off our brains; it’s about taking some time to observe our minds and bodies as they are, learning techniques and tools for letting go of worries and anxieties about the past and the future, and instead embracing and accepting the present moment. There are lots of ways you can meditate, methods you can use, and places and times you can do it; it isn’t one size fits all, its about exploring and experimenting to find what suits you.

Meditation can:

  • Reduce stress, anxiety & pain

  • Reduce blood pressure, cholesterol & cellular aging

  • Improve sleep & emotional regulation

  • Help regulate the nervous system & strengthen the immune system

  • Improve focus, creativity & productivity

  • Cultivate a positive outlook & feeling of connection

  • Bringing a sense or calm, clarity & compassion

  • The key is to be comfortable so wear things you’ll be happy sitting/laying down in for the 45 minute class. Consider bringing along an extra layer, cushion or blanket to make sure you’re cosy. It’s a good idea to bring a bottle of water too. If you fancy bringing along a little notepad to jot down which meditations you enjoyed or reflections you’d like to record, then that’s great too.

    Parking: There are a few spaces right outside but these get filled quickly! There is plenty of street parking on Riverside Road (parking at your own risk).

    Access & Facilities: The studio is on the ground floor at street level, with toilets also on the ground floor. Meditation can be done sitting in a chair, so there is no need to be able to sit or lay on the floor to come to this class.

  • This class is booked and paid for up front in blocks of 4 consecutive weeks. These blocks of classes are NOT refundable or transferable in any circumstances. If you miss 1 or more of the classes in a block of 4 you have paid for, you will not be refunded any of your booking cost.

  • This class is suitable for adults aged 18+.

    Upon booking you’ll be asked to complete a short form for health and safety and this data will be kept safely in line with GDPR guidelines.

    If any of the following apply to you, you must seek consent from your healthcare professional before starting meditation: Under supervision with mental health care provider, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, epilepsy. 

    You only need to complete this form the first time you book a class with Emma, or if your details change at any point.
