Try me free...Mantra Meditation: Patience

Sale Price: £0.00 Original Price: £1.99

I love sharing meditation…so I’m giving you this meditation as a free gift so that you can try it in the comfort of your own home…or wherever you decide to play it!

This is the first meditation script I wrote - it was part of the qualification coursework and I led this meditation during one of the training days with my fellow meditation teachers. It received very positive feedback then and I’ve since used it many times. I’ve often been told it’s the one people find the easiest to find a sense of flow in, even if it’s the first time they’ve ever tried meditation.

A mantra provides a strong focus for our mind; often making it feel organic and natural to let go of all else…revealing a quiet, content mind.

  • Beginner friendly

  • 10.40 minutes

In this practice you’ll be guided through a mantra meditation. This means we’ll repeat a word silently inside our minds. Meditation using a mantra is an ancient and well documented type of practice, popular across all schools of meditation. The word or sound used in a mantra meditation can be anything, and although it can have significant meaning, such as when used within religious practice, the purpose is to focus on the repetition of the word, not on the meaning of the word. The mantra can become akin to a vibration travelling around our body and mind, calming and reassuring each part of us to the core. Mantra can be an effective way to create a sense of space in a busy mind as we’re giving the mind something to focus on.

The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.

  • When you’re meditating at home it might help to keep in mind:

    • Try to pick somewhere you won’t be disturbed.

    • Sit in a position that’s comfortable for you.

    • Test out meditating at different times/in different rooms to see what suits you.

    • Keep a notepad or journal to track your meditation and help inform how best to integrate it into your routine.

    • Little and often is better than a long practice every now and then.

  • The key is to be comfortable, so that you don’t become distracted by feelings of discomfort. You can experiment and have fun trying different positions for meditating.

    You could try:

    • Sitting in standard cross legged position on a carpet, rug or yoga mat. Or a Lotus or half Lotus pose if this is comfy for you.

    • Sitting in a standard chair (like a dining chair) with your feet flat on the ground (if they don’t touch the ground pop a large book or a cushion underneath them). If the chair isn’t comfy enough, add a cushion.

    • Lay flat on your back on a yoga mat or with a blanket/thin cushion under your head.

    • Use a Zafu meditation cushion to sit on he ground with - it adds more support and padding to make sitting cross legged more accessible.

  • Meditation is a safe and effective stress management tool. However, if any of the following applies to you, it is your responsibility to seek consent from your healthcare provider before starting meditation:
